Welcome to Black Cat Homeschool
Welcome to Black Cat Homeschool. You're probably wondering why the name Black Cat Homeschool? It's simple really. Our family has a thing for black cats. When the kids were little they decided to call our homeschool Black Cat after all of our black cats. At the time we had three, but now just one, Obi-own. We lost Magick last fall to Feline Leukemia. Our journey through homeschooling has been rough and sporadic, but so rewarding.
We invite you into our home to see what we're doing and how we do it. Unlike a lot of homeschoolers in our area, we've tended to part time homeschool around the public school system. I know we are not alone in that aspect and hope we can connect with others who are in the same situation. It might be more work, but please believe me, it's well worth it.
Each of our children have had the chance to experience homeschooling. Our daughter was home, doing an online school, for fourth grade which was perfect. During that year we discovered she had a quarter sized hole in her heart. She was only 9 and had to go through a heart procedure. Our youngest was home for a year in 3rd grade due to bullying issues, but return to the public school system of his own choice. Our middle son, who is now 16, made the decision to homeschool in 8th grade. He was at a higher reading level than others and hated wasted his whole day hardly learning anything. We are now in high school with him. I am also helping with my two God-daughters, J and L.
Our blog and project pages will follow our adventure into this amazing world of education and fun. Hope to see you there.
